Dr Louis Godin, president of the Fédération des médecins omnipraticiens du Québec (FMOQ)

Holding a doctoral degree in medicine from Université Laval, Dr. Louis Godin has been a member of the Collège des médecins du Québec since 1978. He was a general practitioner at the l’Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis Hospital until the early 2000s, notably in the emergency room, with the family medicine unit, and the geriatric service. During this period he was an active member in various long-term care establishments.
Parallel to his hospital practice, Dr. Godin pursued his profession in his own medical office in Saint-Anselme until 1997, the year he joined the clinique médicale de Lévis. Dr. Godin also acted as a medical expert in work-related medicine for various organisms from 1990 to 2007.
In terms of his medical administration activities, Dr. Godin presided over the Commission médicale régionale de Chaudière-Appalaches from 1993 to 1999, and was an elected member and head of the département régional de médecine générale de Chaudière-Appalaches between 1999 and 2007.
As for his union work, Dr. Godin presided over the Association des médecins omnipraticiens de la Côte du Sud for more than 20 years. Since 1979 he has been a delegate of the association to the Conseil de la Fédération des médecins omnipraticiens du Québec (FMOQ). He was elected president of the FMOQ in December 2007, after being an administrator from 1988 to 1995, and first vice president from 1995 to 2007.
Some of Dr. Godin's presently related functions include being president of the Société de services financiers Fonds FMOQ Inc., and a member of the administrative council of the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ).
